This is a very serious stare for such a small girl....Makes us want to scoop her up and cover her with kisses!

Our first glimpse at what kind of hair she'll have...Looks like it's wavy, she'll fit in well with Emily's family!

We call this her Buddha pose.

New pictures of our daughter are bittersweet. We love to see her growth and personality, and we hate to be missing this time with her. These pictures were taken when Asha was having a horrible, no good, very bad day. There were some other photos, but she is crying in all of them :( I was reminded by our caseworker that Asha is receiving excellent care, and that is relieving, although I do feel stuck in the feeling that I would like to be the one providing the care. Asha's first birthday is in 11 days. We think of her all the time, and try not to dwell on the delays. This time of year holds the celebrations of Durga Purga and Diwali, two very important Hindi holidays that cause the entire country to shut down for a month. We most likely won't advance with our paperwork for the next month for this reason, and that is a hard pill to swallow. For now, we are consoled by seeing that Asha is safe and sound, growing steadily, and expressing herself well!

First of all, Asha's hair is beautiful! She looks as though she is full of personality, too! What are those 2 little kiddos up to?! I hear that they start pulling each other's hair through the cribs these days. Hopefully Vikram isn't too tough on Asha:) Prayers for you from Texas!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! So, she has my nose and my HAIR too!!! Hooray! I love that she's having a bad day--she's full of sass! I'm sorry but that stubborn pose really reminds me of my little sister Emily. I think we have pictures of her that look just like that. She's thinking "I don't feel like smiling today and you can't make me!" I love it! And, she looks so good in purple. I know that getting pictures of her is so bittersweet for you two but i hope you can be proud of how strong and healthy your daughter is...both in body and in spirit. She's such a gift!
ReplyDeleteLove,

What a precious child. I love the "I"m still sleepy after just waking up" look on her face. Although not the smily happy child we'd all like to see in every picture, I LOVE how these shots show yet another facet to her wonderful personality for you two figure out. I just want to give those chubby cheeks some smootches!
ReplyDeleteHoping and praying for movement.

What a beautiful little girl! Growing and healthy. Those pensive looks - she must be thinking about her mommy and daddy who will be picking her up soon. : ) No smiles from Akhi either. How sweet it will be when we pick them up and get to uncover more and more of their smiles and personality! Hugs and prayers to you,

Hooray for new pictures! They are such a lifeline while you're waiting. She is just a doll, and so beautiful even when she's having a little post-nap grumpiness. :o) I am aching along with you, and you are in my prayers as you wait to travel.
ReplyDeleteI still play a little numbers game on Anya Rashi's birthdays -- I always think of the percentage of her life she's been with us vs. being in the baby home. As of December 16, it will be 75% with us! (Obsess much??)

Serious or not, she's still cute as a button! I think it was nap time or close to it when they were taking these pics. Our baby girl (who's crib is next to Asha) didn't look too happy and she was actually sleeping in the first pic and it looked like a slow progression from sleep to sitting up, wide awake, and about to burst in tears. Just a thought :) Here's my email by the way...... JessL81@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see these pics. Although October doesn't hold much promise for paperwork, both of our families are moving closer every day.
