We are going to be parents!!! Tuesday night we got the call that changed our lives. We have been matched with a precious, sweet, tiny little girl and we are beyond thrilled! Here is the story of "the call."
Kirk and I were watching Entourage (nice and mindless,) when the phone rang. Kirk jumped up to get it, looked at caller ID and said, "Who is Tami D*******?" I literally leapt across the couch, grabbed the phone from his hand and yelled, "It's a referral!!" Tami, and our social worker Rachel were on the phone. I knew instantly it was a referral. My heart was racing!! They told us they had a referral for us to think about, and then gave us all kinds of medical information that we sort of listened to, but mostly just said uh huh and stared and each other with open mouths. We kept giggling and looking at each other, as if to say, "Can you believe this is really happening??" They asked us if we were interested in seeing pictures of this little pumpkin and we said "YES." So Tami emailed photos right then. And there she was, those little chubby cheeks, that little reaching arm, and we were hooked. I started crying, but also felt calm at the same time. At this point, we were kind of overwhelmed. Kirk said, "Let's go watch tv." So we did. We sat there kind of numbed out, watching Entourage until one of us would catch the other's eye and we'd start giggling. I said, "Kirk, you're going to be a Daddy." And he'd just smile. We brought the laptop into the bedroom and as we got ready for bed, we kept looking at her picture, and saying how cute she was, how we wanted to snuggle her. I kept crying and laughing at the same time. Then we went to bed and I dreamt of babies.
Right now we're just basking in the joy of this little person. We're also in shock. We've been in this process for three years, and it's finally happening! I'm useless at work, all I do is daydream about her face, her personality, what she's like. Right now, a good blogging friend is in India, meeting her daughter for the first time. Hopefully, she will visit with our little girl and cuddle her for us.
The paperwork now begins! It will be about six months until we can travel to India to bring this munchkin home. Keep us in your thoughts as we embark on the next step in this amazing journey!

Congrats!!! She is so beautiful, love those sweet cheeks. Hope things move fast for you from here on out. Sorry I haven't gotten back to your last e-mail. I will get to it this weekend!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Send me your email address to spfled@hotmail.com. I have a picture of Miss Moni taken back in November (11/17/09) when I was there to pick up my niece Keira. I'd be very happy to send it along so you've got some pictures of her from before your referral date.
