Those Three Little Words
NOC!!!!!! Yes! We got NOC! We are one step closer to Asha. Here's how it happened.... Last week I decided that I was going to act "as if." As if I was traveling to India very soon, as if our paperwork was flying through the Indian government system. So I made an appointment and this morning I received my typhoid and polio vaccinations. I got a prescription for malaria meds, and an antibiotic for possible GI problems. It felt good to be doing something, anything, that would bring me closer to our daughter. All day long, my arm ached from the shots, and it was kind of a nice reminder of what we are longing for. Driving home from work tonight I started wondering if we would ever get NOC. I have been stalking my own email for months now, checking compulsively for that elusive email from Jynger. I had to pick up Kirk, because his car in is the shop, and we drove home together and discussed work and dinner and family time that we enjoyed over the holidays. I decided to treat myself to dinner on the couch, tucked under my favorite blanket, with a good movie and my favorite doggies. Kirk was in the next room working out when I heard the familiar ding of my phone. This is not just any ding. It is the email ding, and for the past several months, I have been at its beck and call. I heard the ding and thought, it's probably an email from Borders. Either that or it's the one time I don't run over to check and it'll be our NOC. About 15 minutes later, I asked Kirk to hand me my phone. I took one look, and screamed to Kirk, "We got NOC! We got NOC!" He came running over and we hooted and danced and hugged. Then we called everyone and told them the good news. NOC took 6 long months, what a sweet relief it is to be onto the next step!
